Sew-n-tell

Sew...I don't really have much to share this week, I have some different works in progress, but really only one thing done, and it didnt really invole sewing, but it was in the One Yard Wonders book, so I'm going post it on sew-n-tell friday anyways.

It's the first project in the book, and i tried to have my boyfriend help me, but he was to busy so i had to figure it all out myself. Its the corkboard, and again i only used a fat quarter this time becasue i didn't think i would need a HUGE cork board for my dorm.

I couldn't find rolled cork, so i had to buy the squares, and then cut one and stick it together with another one to make it the right size, Here is what it looks like:

I really loved the fabric, and wanted to showcase it off, I got the frame from my next door neighbor, and there is a picture of my best friend who lives in Florida, (its kind of an old one) A huge list of things that i  forgot to bring up to school when i moved in, and a canadian pirate my co-worker made me!

anways, this was really fun and it came out really cute! So i think i'm going to make one for my sister who is going away to college for Cullinary (pastry and Baking) school next fall!

Make sure to check out all the other finishes over at Amy's blog!

Indulge.... :]

So yesterday I had a wonderfull day off from school for Ski day! Where everyone gets to ski for free! but do iIski? or ride? NOPE! haha I probably should...but I had an adventure of my own...well shared with my two awesome roomates!

We went to the wonderfull Keepsake Quilting store! I love that store, a while back I posted about going there, and that was the first time and it was wonderfull!

I found some fabric there that I really liked but didn't get that visit so I HAD to get it this time arond!

I don't know what to really do with it yet, but it is so bright and fun! It makes me wish that summer was here!

My signature....

So latley i have been thinking a lot about haveing a "signature" for all  my sewing projects, so that when you look at it you can be like that was made by Jme! with out looking at the twill tag. So i've been at school all i brought with me was some scraps of fabric and thread, so i started making Yo-yo's like crazy!

they are so easy, fun and versitile! So I thought why not have yo-yo's be my signature? Gussy has her ruffles, and I will have my yo-yo's. I can put them on anything! And the look so cute!

On Purses

On wallets/camera cases!

and of course on headbands!

what do you guys think? It's a good way to use up scraps! and it makes everything pop a little more! And you cane make them in all sizes and some different shapes too!

leave me some feedback on what you think about me having a yo-yo as a signature.
thanks!

See you on friday for sew-n-tell!

Sew-N-Tell Friday!

I'm so excited to share this with everyone. I made them for Lauren's birthday and although they are late getting to her by a few weeks im sad to say, she will have finally gotten them today so now i can share it with the sew-n-tell community.

She had asked me to make her a knitting needle case for her because she saw the one that i made my sister and wanted one herself so i made her one. This one was a little bit more complicated then the one that i made my sister. I made my own bias tape to make the edges look really nice, and then used some extra as ties.

Here is a picture of it all opened up. I used the tutorial found here, but with modifications. It only has 3 rows of pockets, because i think the fourth is just a bit too much and i have never found needles that long before. She also told me how she didn't have any circular needles so i bought her a pair of bamboo circulars. Her favorite color is purple, but i just thought of her when i was going through my stash and saw these pinks. I hope she likes it.

That is a close up of the  binding and fabric, with a pair of my needles in it.

I also made her a Yo-Yo braclett (tutorial found here) and necklace, i'm not sure how much she will like the necklace, i kinda went out on a limb with that one, but she can always give it away to someone else she might think will like it.

the necklace is made up of some white satin like fabric, and some black satin fabric yo-yo's and then i found the button in my stash of buttons and thought it would go perfectly!
Then the braclette is just white satin yo-yo's toped with green and purple buttons.

Well enjoy it Lauren! and i hope one day it will be full of needles!
