Hello blogging world. Has anyone out there ever heard of
Darby Smart? I came across it some how or another. It's a really cool place where you can sign up for a monthly subscription and they send you a box with a different craft in it every month!
I've been feeling out of the crafty loop so I needed something to kick start me back into it. It's hard because we having been living in our new apartment for about 3 months now and I still don't have a sewing space set up yet. Right now it consists of a white 4 foot fold out table with my cutting mat on it and Garrett's sewing machine on it.
Don't get me wrong I am excited to see the finished product that will be my sewing space but it's been hard waiting. I could still sew with what I have now but most of my sewing stuff is still at my parents because if I brought it here there would be no place to put it all.
So I decided to try out
Darby Smart and do the monthly subscription. This way I knew there was something coming that has all the pieces I need for it in one space and I need to make sure I get it done before the next one arrives. They have other things on their website as well. They have lots of crafts already to buy that you can just buy the one time and don't have to sign up for the subscription. You should check out their website
So I signed up this month and got by first box last week. It was a kit to wood burn two bamboo cutting boards. It was a lot of fun and I cant wait to find out what will be in April's box!
Here is what the box looked like when i got it in the mail:
This is what it looked like when you open it up:
It came with a stencil and this was one of those stencils:
This is the second one I did. I just cut out a NH shape and traced it on the board:
Isn't that fun?
I took a trip to Quilted Threads with my mom this afternoon because they were having a big sale and picked up the Mini Hex N More ruler and the Mini Northern Lights pattern by
Jaybird Quilts. I have the normal Hex N More ruler as well but couldn't resist the cuteness of the mini version! I hope to try this pattern soon!
Well thats all for now! See you again soon!
